Off to a better place

March 15

The past few months have been very busy. We're currently in the process of moving and I cannot be happier. Our current place doesn't allow me enough space to work on my hobbies, so I've just been keeping myself busy with wifely duties until we can move. We actually have one more month left on our current lease, but we're signing the lease for the new condo tomorrow so we can finally get out of here.

As much as I love Poblacion, living in this building has somewhat made our lives hell. The management sucks. The building has cracks all over. The hallways are constantly filthy, and there are only 2 elevators available for all 35 floors. Not to mention, the workers here also constantly pretend that one of them is out of order so they can use it as a service elevator. So there's technically just a single elevator working most of the day, which is really annoying especially during rush hour. Everything about our current condo is making us go crazy and we can't wait to leave this place.

I've been searching for paintings to hang in the living room. Our landlady filled our previous place with art prints that do not match the interior, and it made me want to pour acid into my eyes everyday for an entire year! I'm so happy our new landlady allowed us to paint the wall and hang things. We’re having the living room repainted later this month and I can't wait for the final result~

The new condo came fully furnished and while I don't mind the bed, the leather couch was a total eyesore. What a coincidence, I saw this gallinera listed for ₱2,000 online and knew I had to get it.

The word "gallinera" comes from the word gallina, which means hen in Spanish. I read it was apparently adapted from the traditional 16th century church pew and turned into a farmhouse bench, to which they added cage below the seat for the poultry used to pay the haciendero with when cash was unavailable.

It usually comes in a set of five, but these were the only two left with the owner, which is perfect anyway since we don't need that much furniture. I have a bit of restoration to do with the missing parts. With my past experience with woodwork, I'm pretty confident I can do it myself,  I just need a lot of time. I'm currently busy with home renovations, so I probably wouldn't be able to work on this anytime soon.

I plan to hang a lot of artwork in our home. Gone are the days of being so uninspired.
I want to see vintage everywhere I look! It keeps me motivated.

Whatever you see here just came with the frames.
I shall replace them soon with other prints.

I can't wait to move to our new home. We're so far from where we started as a couple, and
seeing the life we've built together so far makes me happy. I feel grateful everyday to
my loving husband who always supports all of my passions and desires in life ♡
